Euro area unemployment at 11.8%
In March 2014, Euro Area unemployment rate stood at 11.8%, down from 12% in March 2013.
It is estimated that in March 2014, 25.699 million men and women in the EU28, of whom 18.913 million were in the euro area, were unemployed. These figures are unacceptable even under a declining trend.
In March 2014, EU28 unemployment rate stood at 10.5% showing only a marginal decrease.
Hardest hit countries in March 2014 were Greece (26.7%), Spain (25.3%), Cyprus (17.4%), Croatia (17.3%), Portugal (15.2%), Slovakia (13.9%), and Bulgaria (13.1%).
Youth unemployment in March 2014 stood at 22.8% in the EU28 and at 23.7% in the Euro Area.
Hardest hit countries were Greece (56.8%), Spain (53.9%), Croatia (49%), Cyprus (43.2%), Italy (42.7%), and Portugal (35.4%).
