From around the Netherlands, some 190 buses headed into the capital. The thousands of postal workers who came took part in a procession, through the Ministry of Economic Affairs which led to the headquarters of TNT.

There was a big orange-black crowd, who listened to the speakers which included Abvakabo FNV president Edith Snoey. In her speech she said that this is not a one off action, but until TNT drops their reckless plans, more and more actions will be taken including the next action which is a 48 hours strike to take place on November 26 and 25.

TNT wants to implement a major reorganisation. Originally it was proposed that eleven thousand workers lose their jobs. 3100 of them according to TNT will be compulsory redundancies. Abvakabo FNV calls those numbers too high. Also, the pace of reorganisation that TNT wans to take, is unrealistic, says the union.

On November 25 the Dutch Parliament will debate from 10.00 until 12.00 hours the situation in the postal market. FNV Abvakabo need the politicians to make it clear that we have enough of these abuses that stem from postal market liberalisation. It is planned for another demonstration by TNT workers at the parliament to make it plain to the politicians the views of postal workers.

The union has also started a petition in the Netherlands to get public support for their fight against the proposed more than 4,500 job losses.
