On 22nd February 2013, British labour rights activist Andy Hall was informed that civil and criminal lawsuits had been filed against him, based on a complaint filed by Thai fruit processor, Natural Fruit Company Ltd.



The charges follow the publication of a report to which Andy contributed, which documented several major rights violations by Natural Fruit against migrant workers, including the use of child labour.



Natural Fruit have refused to meet with the researchers or clarify their findings.



Andy is accused of defaming Natural Fruit's reputation by “broadcasting false statements to public media.”



If convicted, he faces a fine of €7.7 million and up to 7 years in prison per count.



We demand that Natural Fruit should immediately drop its malicious and aggressive law suits against Andy Hall and that the Thai government should ensure an urgent third party audit takes place at Natural Fruit premises.
