The Swedish Transport Workers' Union has today given notice of industrial action to the employer parties and mediation institute over the three contracts where no agreement was reached last week. Unless a deal is done, the action takes effect from Wednesday, April 24 at 12:00. The failed negotiations have now forced the Swedish Transport Workers Union to serve notice of industrial action on the transportation and terminal contract, Environmental Working Agreement and the Security Agreement. On the Security Agreement and the Environmental Working Agreement the action includes a ban on overtime and additional work and blockade against hiring and hiring of agency staff. In addition to this there will also be a total work stoppage at a number of terminals around the country.



- It's never fun to take action, but this is the action we feel compelled to take. The Employers want to introduce a sharp deterioration in the general terms and thus reduce the need for permanent well paid staff on decent terms. It is something we will never be able to accept - says Lars Lindgren, Federal Chairman Transportation.



This dispute over the terms of the Agreements are thus largely the problems caused by the use of casualised agency workers, where employers abuse the Agreements by replacing staff with casual workers. Thisa has long plagued the country terminals. Employers are threatening to lock out the Union workers if the action goes ahead.



- Today, some employers put in the system to fire its own staff to then re-hire through agencies. It is a completely unsustainable system and we want to work together with employers to create order in the industry - says Lars Lindgren.
