UNI Post and Logistics Solidarity Statement

Solidarity support for DHL workers globally

DHL workers are faced with anti-union and anti-workers rights actions across the globe. UNI Post and Logistics along, with the International Transport Federation, are fighting for a global agreement to secure workers’ rights globally.



This UNI World Congress calls upon Deutsche Post DHL to:



· Immediately end the anti-union and anti-workers rights actions that DHL practices in many countries for example the refusal to recognise the Communications Workers Union of Malawi who’s membership wish to negotiate a collective agreement with DHL.



· Conclude a Global Agreement with UNI Post & Logistics Global Union which would guarantee workers rights.





The Congress asks:

· All unions to pledge to join the fight for labour rights in DHL and work to expose these violations and support the campaign for a Global Agreement.



· That other global delivery companies, TNT, UPS, FedEx and GeoPost also cease their anti-union actions such as the firing of workers for their union membership in TUMTIS union in Turkey, and negotiate global agreements with UNI.



DHL is a global delivery operation with more than 450,000 workers in 130 countries. UNI and the ITF have been cooperating closely by developing the UNI-ITF Global Delivery Network. The network is an innovative UNI and ITF response to key changes in the global postal, freight, transport and logistics industries and has inspired new joint approaches to campaigning, research and information exchange organising, bargaining, and dialogue with these employers.
