DHL EWC supports Swiss workers struggle to keep jobs

The European Works Council of DeutschePost DHL meeting in Bonn, sent a message of protest to the DHL management that they were relocating jobs away from Switzerland and making workers redundant for little propose other than the management wanting to more control of the work flows. DeutschePostDHL does not include Switzerland in the European Works Council as it is not part of the European Union and therefore the company would not agree to consult with the EWC on this matter. So the EWC representatives raised their serious concerns with DHL management and passed the following solidarity motion to demand that management respect the rights of Swiss DHL workers and start negotiations with the two Swiss unions concerned,.
The EWC statement said;
The European Works Council Forum (EWCF) of Deutsche Post DHL declares its solidarity with the 86 Swiss colleagues from the Accounts department who are affected by the relocation of jobs to Germany, and with their unions, UNIA and Gewerkschaft Kommunikation [the Communications Union].
For the EWCF members at DPDHL, the responsible management should as a matter of course show respect in its dealings with the 86 colleagues affected and the associated relocation measure.
We therefore expect from the responsible management at Deutsche Post DHL that serious negotiations will immediately be initiated with the unions regarding alternatives or social packages for the colleagues affected.
We wish to use this letter to indicate that the EWCF is also informed about the business activities and measures taken by DPDHL outside the EU and to promise our Swiss colleagues all possible support. We expect DPDHL management to provide the best possible support and a good social package in agreement with the two responsible unions.
We wish the UNIA union and the Gewerkschaft Kommunikation union all the best in the negotiations on alternatives or social packages which will hopefully soon be initiated.
Yours in solidarity,
The European Works Council Forum
