Connect, UNI's affiliate in the UK, has been in intensive discussions with BT following the result of the postal ballot on industrial action, in which over 81 per cent of members voted in favour of action, on a high turnout of over 51 per cent. BT has not changed its position and the union is, therefore, left with no alternative but to begin industrial action on Tuesday 27 May.

The union told that BT had relied on employees' goodwill for too long, and that industrial action would now be the only way to persuade BT to move.
