UNI Apro congratulates Alice Chang, Director for Commerce on receiving the highest distinction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) which recognises and honour outstanding union leaders of Vietnam and friendly organisations who made great contributions to the growth of the Vietnamese trade unions. Sister Alice was conferred the Medal "For the cause of Building the Vietnamese Trade Union Movement" at a special ceremony held on 4 July that was attended by representatives of the VGCL’s leadership and Vietnam Commerce Network Leaders.
Mr. Mai Duc Chinh, VGCL Vice President presented the award, and the citation was read by Mrs Thanh, Director of the International Department of VGCL. Mr. Mai Duc Chinh spoke highly of the tireless efforts made by Alice Chang and other colleagues from UNI Apro over the last 20 years in building a strong trade union movement in Vietnam to better represent and protect workers' and union members' rights and interests especially those in sectors under UNI Apro's jurisdiction. He reaffirmed the desire to further enhancing the relationship between the VGCL and UNI Apro and its affiliates.
Colleagues from UNI Apro have been conveying their heartiest congratulations to Alice over the past two weeks. Regional Secretary, Christopher Ng, said “You deserve the award and the gratitude of the Vietnamese trade unions and their members that have been infected by your sincere guidance, guiding hands and caring concern over the past twenty years”.
Sister Alice in turn expresses her gratitude to Christopher for introducing her to Vietnam 20 years ago that opened the door for her to work with the brothers and sisters there. She also thanks all colleagues in UNI Apro for their support and invaluable assistance over the years. UNI Apro is very proud of Alice’s achievement and once again congratulates her!
