Delegates from Bolivia & Argentina with Peter Ellis (UNITE, United Kingdom) and Marvin Largaespada (UNI Americas)
The meeting, which took place on December 5 at the headquarters of the Paper, Cardboard and Chemical Workers and Employees Federation of Argentina, was one more step toward the development of relations in solidarity among the different unions of this company at the world level. “Just a few days ago we had an opportunity to meet with
K-C workers and representatives from Asia, Africa, the United States and Europe, at a gathering that took place in Hanoi, Vietnam”, reported Peter Ellis, of UNITE (the United Kingdom). “We hope that in 2009 a global dialogue can be established with the company, like the one we have at the European level through the Information and Consultation Forum”, concluded Peter.
The General Secretary of the Paper Federation, Blas Alari, wellcome the International Delegation
Marvin Largaespada, Regional Director of UNI Graphical Americas, expressed his satisfaction at the opportunity to organize this delegation. “The ties among workers of all parts of the world can only strengthen us.” Marvin expressed his gratitude for the welcome given by the Secretary of the Federation, Blas Alari, and his efforts to guarantee the success of the visit. “In this context of globalization, the exchange of information is vitally important”, underscored Bro. Alari, who pointed out that today more than ever there is a need to strengthen solidarity at the national, regional and global level.
UNI Graphical, along with the USW (the United States) is actively committed to developing a global network of Kimberly Clark unions. In October 2008, members of the network held their first meeting with the company.
