More than 1,000 Cleaners in Holland have been striking for over 8 weeks in the longest-running strike in Dutch history since 1933. They are seeking a moderate increase of 4% over the next two years to the current €10 per hour pay rate for a cleaner in the Netherlands.



UNI Property Services Global meeting, this week agreed unanimously to support the FNV campaign and affiliates volunteered to organise demonstrations at Dutch Embassies and Consulates across the world in support of the striking Dutch cleaning workers. Letters of protest will also be sent to the Minister of Social Affairs, The Schiphol Group and NS-Nedtrain from unions across the world as union members globally unite to support their colleagues.



Alice Dale, Head of UNI Property Services, said "We will stop at nothing to put as much global pressure as we can on the Dutch Government and employers, such as CSU, over their failure to value the important work of some of the lowest-paid workers in Holland. Our affiliates are outraged that at a time when Governments around the world are falling over themselves to give billions of dollars to support major Banks, the Dutch Government takes the miserly decision to refuse cleaners such a small pay increase.
