Santiago de Chile. Workers of Farmacias Ahumada S.A. (Ahumada Pharmacies) put an end to the strike, which lasted 32 days, after reaching an agreement with the company this Friday at the dialogue table promoted by the Direction of Labour.



According to Fidel Leiva, union leader from Union N⁰ 2, although the workers were not satisfied with the agreement, they decided to put an end to the strike in order to get back to their job positions, as a result of the distressing situation generated by the lack of salary payment they were facing.



They regretted not having achieved an agreement in relation to bonus payment, which was one of the union’s key demands; neither did they fulfil their expectations as regards benefits’ equalization.

In compensation, the company presently controlled by the Mexicans Casa Saba after a recent acquisition, offered the workers a soft loan with a repayment period of 24 months.



UNI Americas greets these strong workers who had to struggle hard for their legitimate demands, in a situation of almost complete abandonment of mass media, especially audiovisual and written media, which did not inform about the conflict,
