Under a requirement approved last week by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, public companies will have to disclose the pay gap ratio of CEOs and workers.

In an article summarising what we already know about CEO to worker pay, Bloomberg News reports that 4 of the 11 companies with the highest gaps are health companies. 

Community Health Systems, Universal Health Systems, Tenet Healthcare and HCA Holdings are already some of the largest health companies in the world. With the global expansion in health services, and the projected increases in job numbers, these companies will continue to grow both in the US and beyond.

Data also shows that the jobs being created in health and care are likely to become low paid and precarious.

More reason that ever for health and care workers to get together and stand against a system which is designed to protect high CEO pay and shareholder returns at the expense of workers and those in need of healthcare.
