An extraordinary meeting on the spin-off of parts of the business was convened on 24 March 2011.

Both the spin-off of 100% of Dia hard discount activity and the spin-off of 25% of Carrefour Property real estate activity were rejected by the CICE. Employee representatives argue that both projects exclusively serve the interests of a certain group of shareholders, whereas social or employment aspects had not been considered at all. Even in financial and economic terms, both projects might have detrimental effects on business, according to an expert’s analysis mandated by the CICE in order to assess possible consequences. The works council members agreed unanimously on a statement, calling on shareholders not to endorse the spin-off projects.
