This workshop was part of a capacity-building project funded by the European commission consisting of workshops in five new EU Member States. The workshop was attended by unions representing workers at Czech Radio, Czech TV and the actors’ union on the workers’ side, as well as employer representatives from Czech Radio and Czech TV.



In the morning the workers’ and employers’ representatives met separately to discuss the situation of the audiovisual sector in the Czech Republic, and came together for a joint meeting in the afternoon. During the morning session the unions discussed the collective bargaining situation as well as their relationship with the employers, the situation of freelancers and the more general issue of the role of public media. In the afternoon the focus was on social dialogue, specifically on European level, and on the financing and the future of public service broadcasting.



After all five workshops have been implemented a seminar will take place in Tallinn in October. This seminar will bring together participants from the workshops to share information and experiences on social dialogue and collective bargaining.
