Basın-Is Members at the company MMG in Izmir, Turkey, made a call for support in their collective agreement struggle, addressed to the local community in Tire. A few weeks ago MMG workers started a protest campaign to defend their collective bargaining rights.

Workers met with families and representatives of other unions and associations at the city center and provided information on the conflict. After the meeting around 200 workers, families, community leaders and union reps marched to the main square and made a press statement. In their statement the workers underlined that they are only seeking their legal rights guaranteed by Turkish Laws and the MM Code of Conduct. They stated that they don't want any excuses anymore but a collective agreement and that they are going to continue their actions until the Management proved that the company has real intention to provide a fair collective agreement, to respect their rights and freedom of representation at workplace issues.
