Frank Bsirske, chairman of German union ver.di, was re-elected president of UNI Europa for another four year mandate during the final session of the UNI Europa conference in Toulouse.



Bsirske, who has been president of UNI Europa since 2002, thanked the affiliates for the trust they had reinvested in him.



Bsirske also issued a challenge to the conference delegates to find new ways to react to current events which had turned into a full blown crisis of not only the Eurozone but the European Union.



The UNI Europa president called on union leaders to work together to find answers to the latest raft of EU rules which amounted to another attack on the European social state. He said what is required is an international policy that is binding and makes the workers stronger so they can stand up against the capitalist elite. A structure for change had to be put in place.



He emphasized the importance of members striving to understand each other. He said a collective effort is the only way to tackle the crisis, which is destroying jobs and working conditions.



Bsirske concluded, “UNI is us. It’s all of us. Now let’s get down to work.”
