"Our Breaking Through campaign is our plan. It is all about growing union membership in all sectors and all regions. It isn't just a theory, we have concrete targets, an organising fund, resources and the techniques and training to put it in to practice. We already have 60 projects across the globe and are planning many more.

"The message is that organising is global union business. The global union can help local initiatives. Not in a casual, unplanned way but with resources and real solidarity and assistance. We have global ambition delivered via local drivers.

"When you have media concentration to the extent you do now it is clear how important strong unions are. Any sense of power to bring about socially responsible media can only come from strong trade unions.

"So we are targeting global companies - the establishment of the Disney Alliance this week is a good example of how we can do that.

"I believe we can get to 100 global agreements and a target of 400,000 members from its current 375,000 in this sector is a modest target - and we can do it. When you align those numbers with 150,000 people from the world of sport and work alongside actors and musicians and journalists we can achieve the strength to stand up for working people across media and entertainment across the globe.

"To achieve that we have to make sure organising is daily union business - and we will".
