Cross sector Empowerment Training Courses implemented during the second half of 2012 in South Asia aims to strengthen networking and enhance campaigning, organizing and analytical skills of the trade union activist representing the inter-professional groups.

National Empowerment Courses conducted in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka has attracted many young union activists from Finance, Graphical, Postal and Telecom sectors. Many of the participants were women and number of them being new employees in the respective industries who expressed their interest to initiate change in the trade unions to bring in new culture to take up responsibilities in the collective efforts in the unions.





Empowerment project has been supported by LOTCO Sweden for capacity development in trade unions in developing trade unions in collaboration with UNI Apro for many years in Asia. Project has contributed immensely to encourage women and young unionist to upgrade their skills and confidence in taking up trade union responsibilities.

The second sub-regional cross sector empowerment course in South Asia will be implemented in Kathmandu, Nepal from 10-14 October 2012.
