A project to organise film workers in five southern Brazilian states, sponsored by the SASK of Finland and being carried out in cooperation with TEME, the Finnish theatre and film workers federation, and UNI-MEI, moved ahead significantly in June. A meeting of activists from SINDCINE of Sao Paulo and new members organising in the new states took place on 5-7 June in the resort city of Florianopolis. In conjunction with this event ten directors from TEME, organised by Maria Lappalainen, president of the directors’ union within TEME, took part in the famous annual Florianopolis film festival which followed, mounting a special programme of Finnish films. All this activity helped to attract attention to the union organising campaign being coordinated by SINDCINE.
