On 31st January 2015 a fire swept through a plastics packaging factory in Dhaka, Bangladesh's capital, killing at least 13 people and injuring many others. The fire was brought under control by late on Saturday night and a search was under way for more victims. It is not clear how many people might be missing, but survivors say that about 70 workers were inside the building when the fire broke out at the five-storey factory in the city's Mirpur district. The factory recycled plastic and made packaging for food for the domestic market. This tragedy demonstrates once more the poor safety conditions at Bangladeshi factories.
