On June 7th over 200 Group 4 Securicor workers appealed to Axis Bank in Delhi to take responsibility for the poor conditions of their security workers. In an effort to address underpayment of their Provident Fund (pension) and other problems with G4S, the workers held a demonstration and distributed information to Axis Bank customers on their conditions and poor treatment.



Axis Bank outsource some of their security work to Group 4 Securicor in Delhi and other major cities in India, making them a Principal Employer of the G4S security workers. G4S agreed with union leaders and worker representatives to resolve their workers’ issues by April 30th, but are yet to honour their agreements.



Axis bank issued a statement to the CITU union denying that they have any responsibility to address the conditions of the workers they contract through Group 4 Securicor as “…G4S employees are only outsourced personnel”.



A recent report of UNI Global Union outlining the poor conditions of G4S workers in India has been sent to G4S clients, including Axis Bank senior management.



CITU Union Leader Sudhir Kumar said ‘Our union will maximize this report by making sure that the information is passed to all G4S clients to make them conscious of the fact that by associating with the bad practice of G4S, their image is also eroded.’



G4S claim to be the largest Private Security firm in India with over 130,000 workers. Click here to read the report
