ARTEE Protests on long pending issues of Radio and TV Technical Staff

The Association of Radio and Television Engineering Employees (ARTEE) an affiliated members of UNI MEI held an agitation meeting on June 25th. The ARTEE members assembled in front of the Akashwani Bhawan in New Delhi which houses the office of the All India Radio. The agitation meeting was in support of various unaddressed issues that have been long pending thus adversely affecting engineers employed by the All India Radio and Doordarshan [the TV]. The meeting had participation of almost all their employees as well as union leaders and members of the content union as well. The ATREE President Bro. Anil Kumar and its General Secretary Bro. Umesh Chandra, addressed the meeting highlighting the concerns of the technical staff and neglect of the management to address their concerns. The ARTEE leaders pointed out that a number of issues of the subordinate engineering employees were pending with the ministry for a very long time, however no decision has been taken up on them. Association demanded that immediate steps be taken up to address the issues such as the upgradation of the helper from Group D to Group C as recommended by Sixth Central Pay Commission, One pay scale for one cadre, implementation of assured career progression (ACP) to subordinate engineering cadres, Rs. 5400 Grade pay for AE’s and Rs. 4600 EA’s, restoration of abolished post in Engineering cadres and immediate recruitment, and implementation of cadre review for engineering employees of AIR and DD. Later the ARTEE Leadership submitted their ‘charter of demands’ to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The meeting further resolved that a follow-up agitation gate meeting ARTEE would be held before the Doordarshan Bhawan, Mandi House in New Delhi on July 8th. To review and decide follow up action / agitation. The UNI MEI India Coordinator /UNIDOC Delhi Director Sis. Anjali Sinha also addressed the audience about the efforts of UNI Global union, UNIDOC and UNI MEI in India and worldwide as well as close association of ARTEE and UNI Global union. Later She emphasized that in a global environment it is important that their exist networking among the unions and in this connection she assured the ARTEE of, UNI global union and UNI MEI support. The UNICOME National Project Coordinator, Bro Gaurav Arora too addressed the meeting and informed about the activities concerning the retail workers and their union, UNICOME will support ARTEE for their cause to fight for their rights. ARTEE’s AIR Vice President, Bro. Kuldeep Bhan thanked UNIDOC Delhi staff and UNICOME. From UNIDOC and UNICOME Delhi, Sis. Mehak Sethi, Sis. Tabassum Parveen and Bro. Deepak Pandey too were present to support for the cause.
