UNI Global Union welcomes the appointment of Antonio Guterres to the key position of Secretary General for the United Nations by the UN General Assembly. The former socialist prime minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002 and UN High Commissioner for Refugees until December this year, Guterres is known as an outspoken, strong political force with a wide knowledge of world affairs.
