The purpose of the project is to create an analytical tool that will provide UNI Europa Finance sector affiliates with information on the evolutions in the sector in terms of employer responses to the crisis, their employment and restructuring strategies, collective bargaining demands and outcomes, mobility and career progression, gender equality, work-life balance and the development and acquisition of skills and competences. Understanding the evolution of the sector in these terms will provide UNI EF affiliates with crucial information that will enable them to take action with employers to address any shortcomings in these strategies that may reduce the sector’s competitiveness in the long term.
The researchers will present their initial thoughts to a small workshop to take place in London on Wednesday 18 April 2012.
The project includes funding for 15 delegates to attend the workshop and UNITE is therefore asking the project partners to each choose one key champion for the project to attend. The partners of the project are: FABI, ETYK, MUBE, Uilca, FSU-DK, Cmkos, Pro-Fi and UNI Europa Finance.
The purpose of the workshop is to debate, explain and enthuse those who attend so that they will then go back to their unions and ensure that the project and the research is supported with commitment by the key players in collective bargaining in the finance sector. Translation for the workshop will be provided for English, German and French only.
Please would you consider who your champion should be and let Bernadette Fisher at UNITE (bernadette.fisher@unitetheunion.org) know so that they can plan the detail of the content of the workshop. In addition, it is likely that the researcher will make contact with the champion in advance of the workshop so please provide contact details - email and mobile phone number.
If any other UNI Europa affiliate representing workers in the sector would like to take part in the project, please contact Bernadette Fisher.
