With more than 240,000 employees worldwide, Sweden-based Securitas is the world’s second largest private security company. Securitas officers in the U.S. will be forming unions under the auspices of a global agreement reached with Union Network International (UNI) in 2006. Under the agreement Securitas pledges that the company “will respect the rights of all employees to form and join trade unions of their choice and to bargain collectively in accordance with local laws and principles.”



Securitas employs more than 100,000 security officers in North America. The vast majority—approximately 85,000—do not have a union. Most work for low pay, have no access to quality affordable healthcare for themselves or their families and few, if any, other benefits.
