Affiliates at global meeting support FNV strike

 Affiliates at UNI Property Services global meeting committed to support FNV cleaners, who have now been striking for over 9 weeks.



UNI Property Services Global meeting took place at UNI headquarters in Nyon, 13-14 April. The meeting followed UNI europa Property Services meeting, which also took place at UNI headquarters on 12-13 April. Twenty affiliated unions from 17 countries were represented at the meeting.



Participants elected a new Steering Committee increasing our representation of women to 33%. Two male leaders from our Spanish affiliates FeS-UGT and AA.DD-CC.OO specifically stepped down to add good, competent women to the ranks of our leadership team. The programme of the meeting included a review of activities under current Global Agreements (ISS, Securitas and G4S), a review of activities to sign new Global Agreements (Prosegur and OCS), an overview of progress made in our RCP campaign, and planning for joint activities on International Justice Day (June 15) and World Day for Decent Work (October 7).



Krzystoff Zgoda and Marlena Lawskowska, Solidarnosc, made a presentation on their victorious organizing campaign and contract fight against Solid Security and IKEA. They were awarded the 2010 UNI Property Services Solidarity Award for this victory.
