At the 48th Asian Development Bank (ADB) annual governors meeting held from 2-5 May 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan; Global Unions assured commitments to make available their resources and expertise for ADB funded projects to be inclusive and improve transparency to drive sustainable inclusive growth in Asia. 

During an interactive meeting with the civil society organizations, ADB President Takehiko Nakao said that the bank is willing to learn lessons from past mistakes and stepping up to carry out things differently. He said to make ADB funded projects inclusive and transparent; civil society organizations will be engaged from policy design to implementation as development partners of the bank.

UNI Apro Finance President Masakazu Tahara emphasised that ADB should focus on its primary objective of poverty alleviation in the region without mixing priorities towards stimulating growth in the economies. Speaking at the CSO Panel discussion, Tahara said that; mobilising resources through Public private Partnership models should only be implemented with strict adherence to the United Nations guiding principles of human and business rights framework, ensuring that marginalised and vulnerable communities rights are respected and protected and proposing remedial measures to compensate when those rights are infringed or violated.

Global Unions joined with the international community to share the sorrows of earth quake victims in Nepal and extended sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones and undergoing hardships. UNI Apro finance affiliates from India, Japan, Malaysia and Pakistan joined the Global Union delegation with PSI and participants of the NGO/CSO forums operating in the region. Trade unions extended solidarity to the members and volunteers from the community who are working on the ground round the clock for the relief of the victims.
