UNI Europa will take part in the upcoming European trade union demonstration announced by the European Trade Union Confederation, to take place on 4 April 2014 in Brussels.
The demonstration will be held within the framework of the European election preparations in May 2014 and will focus attention on the trade union campaign: A New Path for Europe.
The European trade union movement urgently demands a change of course in order to exit from the crisis, to create quality jobs and obtain more social justice. The European trade union movement demands vis-à-vis the European elections are sketched out in the ETUC Manifesto for the EU elections. The possibilities for an alternative Investment policy for Europe are further explained in the ETUC Investment Plan Leaflet. All proposals are further detailed in the ETUC Resolution on A New Path for Europe.
The European demonstration is organised in close cooperation between the ETUC and the three Belgian affiliated trade unions (FGTB, CSC and CGSLB). UNI Europa will circulate additional information in due course.
It can already be announced that UNI Europa’s mobilisation in view of the European demonstration will focus primarily the Youth Campaign which will be launched at the March 2014 Youth Seminar in Athens, in close cooperation with the European Trade Union Federations.
Additionally, UNI Europa’s participation will promote the UNI Europa Services Manifesto in view of the upcoming EU elections. What is more, the European demonstration will serve the already engaged Rethink REFIT Campaign in an attempt to stop the deregulation of Social Europe and obtain the legal transposition of the occupational health and safety social partner agreement in the hairdressing sector.
To ensure this mobilisation is a success, UNI Europa invites all members of Belgium’s neighbouring countries to make a particular effort to join the demonstration en masse in Brussels.
