![]() SBEU Uni affiliate in Sabah in East Malaysia celebrated its 45th Anniversary and moved to a modern newly furbished premises. SBEU has purchased the 4 story premises to house its headquarters, conference/meeting halls and the training centre. SBEU invited Bro. Christopher Ng UNI Apro Regional Secretary to officially declare and open the new building in Kota Kina Balu, Capital city of State of Sabah on 17th September 2011. Christopher said that SBEU was a pioneering member union which supported the formation of ASIA FIET in the region. Since then SBEU has emerged to be a dynamic union and UNI Apro is proud of its achievements. He commended the leadership of SBEU for investing in the new premises on its own means, also for inviting the founder leaders of SBEU to grace the occasion. Building was declared opened in the presence of many UNI affiliates in Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore. Yutaka Seki UNI Apro Finance President was also invited as a special guest for the function. Catherine Jikunan; General Secretary said the facilities at the SBEU premises is available for all bank employees, trade union members to make good use of them to protect and promote trade union rights. She also thanked UNI Apro for developing the leaders of her union to take up responsibilities in trade unions. Margaret Chin said SBEU is also closely working with NGO , Environmental and Youth groups for protecting the fona and flora in Sabah Malaysia. SBEU intends to promote image of responsible trade unionism amongst them and the facilities of SBEU will be used for such purposes as well. Bro. Fung Ket Wing founder President shared his experiences of forming the union with only 9 members in 1966, SBEU represent over 2000 members in the banking industry in Sabah, East Malaysia. 45th Anniversary celeberations preceded the SBEU triennial delegates’ conference . |
