On February 21-22, participants from India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Japan, and Nepal gathered in Kathmandu for the first meeting of the UNI Apro IT Organizing Network. The Network was created in August 2017 at the UNI Apro ICTS Conference, and brings together union activists and leaders that work or represent workers in IT companies in the region.

During the meeting, which was supported by the Swedish union Unionen, the participants discussed the state of play in the Asian IT market, the situation in the different countries, and the challenges and opportunities they face when organizing IT professionals.

The network also visited the leading IT company in Nepal, F1Soft International, which has among other things developed the principal mobile wallet application in the country, called e-Sewa.
