The Federation of Aeon Group Workers Union held its 2nd Aeon Group Union Global Network Committee in Kuala Lumpur on 4 December 2017.

This event was held based on the organization's vision, "The Challenge to Contribute to Democratic Trade Union Movement in Asia by Expanding Harmonious Labor Management Relationship". The purpose of this meeting was to give an opportunity to the Union leaders of Aeon Group from Asian Countries to get together with the Aeon Management and learn from each other.

The participants also had an opportunity to have a fruitful discussion and dialogue with the Top Management of Aeon Co Ltd including Mr. Shinya Wako, Executive Deputy President of Aeon Co Ltd. During the Meeting, the Regional Secretary of UNI APRO, Bro Christopher Ng shared his knowledge and expressed about " The Union Movement, Issues and Future Prospects in the Asian Region.

In conjunction with the Aeon Group Union Global Network Committee, Aeon Big M Sdn Bhd signed its 1st Collective Agreement with the Aeon Big M Sdn Bhd Managers Union and Aeon Big M Sdn Bhd Employees Union.

Representatives on behalf of Aeon Big M Sdn Bhd, was Mr. Masayoshi Masuda, Managing Director and Mr. Hiroshi Watabe, Senior General Manager Business Administration. Bro. Zulkarnain Arifin, President of Aeon Big Managers Union and Bro. Bascar Palanisamy, General Secretary of Aeon Big Managers Union represented the Aeon Big Managers Union while Bro. Amru Arifin, President of Aeon Big Employees Union and Sis Norfaezah Abdul Jalal, General Secretary of Aeon Big Employees Union represented the Employees Union.

UA Zensen Japan of which the Federation of Aeon Group Workers Unions is affiliated to - is represented by Sister Gono. She is UA Zensen’s Vice President and also a member of the ILO Governing Body.

The signing ceremony was witnessed the following Officials:

• Mr. Takeshi Inagaki - General Manager HR Administration of Aeon Asia Sdn Bhd
• Bro. Christopher Ng – Regional Secretary of UNI Apro
• Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal – President of UNI MLC

This historic event was concluded with a group photo session followed the presentation of plaques by Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal to the Aeon Big Managing Director, the Union Presidents and the witnesses of the signing ceremony.

UNI Apro and UNI MLC congratulate the Aeon Big Management and Unions on the signing of their 1st Collective Agreement which paves the way for a smart partnership between the parties for the interest of the Company, business and its workers.
