Recognising         that Cable & Wireless has acquired Columbus Communications Ltd, and

Accepting             that Liberty Global has since purchased Cable & Wireless, and

Knowing              that former Columbus Communications Ltd and Heritage Cable &  Wireless workers are performing similar roles for the same employer/owner, and

Aware                  that the workers of Heritage Cable & Wireless receive better benefits than the former Columbus Communications Limited workers, and

Knowing              that Liberty Global/Cable & Wireless is engaged in the process of outsourcing despite opposition from the respective Unions.

NOW THEREFORE, we the members of the UNI Americas ICTS Regional Committee Meeting in Sao Paulo, Brazil, July 22, 2016, calls upon Liberty Global/ Cable & Wireless to:-

Respect the Collective Labour Agreements of the respective bargaining units in each of the Caribbean countries and engage in fair and respectful collective bargaining.

Harmonise the salaries and benefits of the former Columbus Communications Limited workers with that of heritage Cable & Wireless workers.

Stop the outsourcing process in Grenada by withdrawing letters of termination issued to workers and allow the arbitration process, set up by the Ministry of Labour, to be completed.

Engage the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU) in meaningful and fair discussion on the issue of harmonization of salaries.

Apply the best practice principle to all workers even where separation/termination may arise.
