Contract cleaners for the City of London are on indefinite strike after half of the migrant workers were sacked by Thames Cleaning. The workers are demanding the reistatement of their colleagues and the London Living Wage which would give them an additional 90p an hour. The contractor has spent £20,000 on an injunction to stop the strike but has failed.

After 27 days of continous striking, some cleaners began a hunger strike on Monday. They were joined in solidarity with a lively demonstration including construction workers blacklisted for being union members, and many other supporters.
