Banco Central de la Republica Argentina’s workers signed an agreement early today, achieving a salary raise and the reinstatement of the workers who were fired by Banco Central and Banco Provincia.
Sergio Palazzo, General Secretary of the Asociación Bancaria (Banking Association), welcomed the agreement achieved after 65 encamping days in the city of Buenos Aires.
“Firstly, I would like to thank all fellows. We have achieved an agreement with ABPPRA Chamber: a 33% salary raise in just one payment backing January through December. At the same time, we have agreed to keep employees’ shares of profits that were being denied”, he stated.
Before salary and retirement adjustments, the elimination of subsidies and the rising prices that directly affect the working class, the Asociación Bancaria (the Bancaria Association) negotiated a clause to reopen the joint discussion in case the economy has important variations and exceeds pay raise.
Furthermore, there was a great ovation for the reinstatement of the workers who were fired. “Our fellows who were fired and had been in the ecamping can now take off their T-shirts that read Comisión de Cesantes (Discharged Commission). The conflict has been unlocked and the workers have regained their jobs as bank clerks”, he claimed.
UNI Americas’ Regional Director of Finance, Guillermo Maffeo, detached the international solidarity during the 65-day-camping and the presence of UNI Americas, along with the participation of the Regional Secretary, Adriana Rosenzvaig, and UNI Americas’ President, Rubén Cortina, as well as the country’s and the region’s unions.
“Almost all UNI’s affiliated, such as CSTEBA, Fetraban, AEBU, CUT Brazil and UNI Americas’ members were in the camping to give international support. UNI Americas had the true dimension of the importance of La Bancaria’s accomplishment for the entire region’s syndicalism”, he stated.
Today the agreement will be formalized with the other chambers.
