AIA General Isurance Employees formed a union and became the first branch of Insurance Employees' Union of Sri Lanka. [IEUSL]. R S Nandalal, General Secretary of the union welcomed the AIA membership along with IEUSL officials, extending fraternal solidarity at a meeting held on 31st December 2015, at the Ceylon Estate Staff Union meeting hall in Colombo. IEUSL President Diwakara Ethugalage, expressed confidence in organizing all employees in private insurance companies in Sri Lanka,  to strengthen the insurance industry trade unions  to help the industry to grow and increase insurance penetration in Sri Lanka.

Jayasri Priyalal, Regional Director for UNI Apro Finance and S H A Mohamed Industrial Relations Consultant, were also invited by the IEUSL to grace the inuagural meeting of the new branch formation. Priyalal assured UNI Finance Global Unions support to IEUSL in its endevour to organize the employees in private insurance industry in Sri Lanka. IEUSL is a UNI affiliate representing insurance industry from Sri Lanka.
