Unions at Cable and Wireless, affiliated with UNI Americas, met on November 7th in Bolans, Antigua, to discuss continuing problems at the company.

C&W has been attempting unilateral changes and redundancies related to the merger with Columbus Communications throughout the Caribbean. In addition, UNI members are concerned about the impact to workers of a potential sale to Liberty Global. 

At the meeting, participants reported on problems in each country at Cable and Wireless and shared research on Liberty Global. Unions agreed to formulate a unified Caribbean strategy to address common concerns as quickly as possible with the company.

Caribbean union leaders were excited by the spirit of solidarity, and pledged to deepen their collaboration and take collective action to address common concerns at C&W.
