Although Amazon claims to be the world’s largest online retailer, and makes over 7 billion dollars in Germany alone, workers at Amazon Germany are not feeling the benefits. Workers like Christian Krahling from the Bad Hersfeld branch, who are treated like robots and have no say in their working conditions, are demanding a collective agreement at Amazon Germany.

Amazon management in Germany continue to categorically reject any and all attempts by trade union representatives, shop stewards and other democratically elected representatives of the workers to engage in meaningful dialogue.

Head of UNI Commerce, Alke Boessiger said, “For a company of Amazon’s size and stature, it is deplorable that they do not respect their workers in Germany. Amazon must respect their employees and negotiate with the unions face to face.”

“Workers are not making unreasonable demands. The negotiation of a collective agreement with Ver.di is the only way Amazon can be successful in Germany”
