UNI Gaming Global Union has received information from AFUC, its affiliates in Uruguay, about a difficult situation in the gaming sector.

Conrad Casino, where the union organises workers, announced about their decision to close services of slots, casino cashiers and security sector. This would affect more than 100 part-time workers.

The casino is run by Enjoy, the gaming company operating a chain of 8 casinos (7 in Chile and 1 in Mendoza), with 5,718 slot machines, 265 gaming tables and over 1,000 bingo positions. Alongside these casinos, Enjoy has 6 hotels. Enjoy bought Conrad Punta Del Este Resort and Casino last May.

The company met the union but only informed about the cuts in schedules of the employees without giving more information about the planned closures and possible job cuts. The union held a few meetings to consult employees and update them about the situation of the discussion with the management.

The global affiliates of UNI Gaming support the demands on their colleagues in Uruguay and call Casino Hotel Enjoy Conrad de Punta del Este to have meaningful negotiations with the union.
