UNI Post & Logistics Communications

Circular No. U031/P
Nyon, 12 March 2008
To all UNI Post & Logistics Affiliates
Dear Colleagues,
UNI Post & Logistics Communications
UNI Post & Logistics is going through a number of changes and we want to update and improve the communications we have between each other. A vital part of this is making sure that the right information and communications are going to the right people in your union and that union members in the sector are well informed about the issues they are facing and are able to help their colleagues globally to understand the challenges and changes.
In order to do this we have prepared some information for you on UNI Post & Logistics methods of communications and a small questionnaire that we would ask you to complete and e-mail, fax or post back to us as soon as possible.
UNI Post & Logistics Web Page
Our web page is now regularly updated with all the latest information on what is facing the Post & Logistics sector. It also is where we post all the documents for forthcoming meetings and it should be your number one reference point for all things concerning the sector. We try to make sure we have the information in as many languages as possible and we will be working on the page in the next few weeks to ensure you can navigate through it in your language.
You can find the home page of UNI Post & Logistics Global Union at:
http://www.uniglobalunion.org/postal
Book mark it now!
Remember there is a whole lot more information available in the affiliates only part of the page. Sometimes because of confidentiality, copyright issues and because we don’t want the boss to see some of what we are doing, we put a number of pages as affiliates only. You should, whenever visiting the UNI Post & Logistics web page, log into the affiliates only part of the page and you will see so much more.

Your web page
We would also like to help affiliates share information which is why we need the address of your web page so that we can build a great page that links all the Post & Logistics unions together. Once a month we will try and highlight an affiliate’s web page to show what they are doing so others can learn from their experiences. So please send us your web address. You can e-mail an Internet link direct to; postal@uniglobalunion.org
UNI Post & Logistics Global Bulletin
We are now producing a monthly Global Bulletin to highlight things that are happening in the world of Post & Logistics. This will concentrate on union news such as: what unions are doing in their collective bargaining; what UNI Post & Logistics is doing; news and information on the campaigns we are running and on the campaigns affiliates are running and where you can get support or assistance. We will also be highlighting the main things that are happening in the Post & Logistics world that affect your members’ jobs, such changes to regulation, privatisation, and new technologies. The first edition of this bulletin is available on the UNI Post & Logistics web page and has been e-mailed to your union. Initially we are producing this Bulletin in three languages: English, French and Spanish. Order your automatic copy now by sending us your e-mail address. We would also like to send it to as many people as possible because we really want to start to build feedback and an essential information source, so please send to us at postal@uniglobalunion.org the lists of e-mail addresses of other people in your union you would like us to send the Global Bulletin to.
Your Union’s Bulletins and Press Releases
Does your union send members an e-mail bulletin? If you do, we would like to be on the distribution list so we have an instant source of information that we can share with others and use for the UNI Post & Logistics Global Bulletin. The information that may not seem so interesting to you, but it may be extremely interesting to others, so please send us any news stories you may have and include us on your e-mail bulletins list.
Also if you have a press list where you send press releases to, please include our e-mail address on this list so that we receive your press releases.
Union Journals
We get much valuable information to share with other unions in the Post & Logistics Sector from union journals, but the number of union journals we receive is by no means complete. Please make sure you always mail a copy of your union journal to us at:
UNI Post & Logistics Global Union
8-10 Avenue Reverdil
1260 Nyon
Switzerland
Post News Briefs
UNI-Apro, ASPEK of Indonesia and UNI Japan Post produce a regular e-mail bulletin of press clippings and news articles to help keep you informed and updated on what is happening in the world of Post & Logistics. There are around 150 issues of this news per year in English and Japanese. Many of you will be currently contributing to and receiving this news but we would like to increase the readership of this service. If you would like to receive this news please send your email address to: unitokyo@uranus.dti.ne.jp
E-mail Forums on Specific Subjects
We will be running several e-mail forums and e-mail information services on different specific Post & Logistics subjects such as Liberalisation and Regulation; Privatisation; New Technology; DHL and TNT. If you would like more comprehensive information on these specific subjects please indicate in the attached check list and questionnaire which subject forum you wish to join. Please note that the information on these forums will in the main part be distributed in the language we receive it in. These forums need to be interactive to work so we are also seeking similar information that you think would be useful to the forum to be sent to us at UNI Post & Logistics so we can distribute it to the appropriate forum. We will of course consider setting up additional e-mail forums as the need arises and in response to demand.
How Can We Improve Our Communications and Information Sharing?
If you have any other ideas on how we can improve our communications we would welcome hearing from you!
Yours sincerely
