Vodafone UK announced on Tuesday it was recruiting 330 retail advisors into its stores and creating up to 130 sales and service roles to meet growing demand. The CWU welcomed the investment by Vodafone into its customer interfacing sectors of retail, sales and customer support which could create up to 460 jobs across the UK.



Its spokesperson added, "CWU welcomes the investment and consolidation of operations in the North Midlands which will improve the working conditions for Vodafone workers in this area and safeguard 850 jobs. While many telecommunications companies are outsourcing their work we are pleased that Vodafone are choosing to invest in the UK workforce. It’s particularly welcome as Vodafone is a global company which has now clearly chosen to invest in the UK. This is good news for Vodafone customers, employees and CWU members alike. The job losses in the Newbury area regrettable, especially considering that Vodafone operates in a growth industry. CWU will support any member affected by this announcement.”
