Significant Improvement in the Wages for Graphical Workers in Argentina











In the presence of the President, Mrs. Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, and the Minister of Labor, Carlos Tomada, the signing of the first four salary agreements of the textile, wood, footwear and graphical industries was announced at the House of Government of Argentina on April 23rd.

In the picture, around the President, are our colleagues from FATIDA, Lucio Castillo and Pedro Argüello, along with representatives of FAIGA, Juan C. Sacco and Adolfo Morvillo.

It is important to point out that the agreement with the graphical sector includes a clause, the 10th, that expresses the following: “In accordance with the agreement between UNI Graphical and CONLATINGRAF dated October 27, 2006, the parties point out that CCT 409/05, in its entirety, is of mandatory compliance in all establishments and companies that carry out graphical activities in the jurisdiction for the application of this agreement”.

Likewise, both entities, FAIGA as a member of CONLATINGRAF and FATIDA, as an affiliate of UNI Graphical, ratify their reciprocal commitment to act jointly to prevent child labor, illegal labor and the unfair competition this practice generates.

In line with this commitment, at the national level, vocational training will be propitiated, as well as occupational health and safety, the defense of sources of work and jobs, and joint actions will be taken to prevent social dumping.

The wage agreement, signed for a twelve month period, represents a significant improvement in the salaries of our men and women colleagues in the graphical sector of Argentina.
