UNI's German affiliate Ver.di announced Deutsche Telekom was planning to pull out of 39 call center locations and focus on only 24 locations from now on. According to the union, the call center plan could affect 8,000 jobs.

"We will use all possibilities" to prevent Deutsche Telekom from implementing its concept "and to protect employees and their jobs," Ver.di board member Lothar Schroeder said.

Deutsche Telekom spokesman refused to comment these news but some days ago the German telecoms giant confirmed its plans closing some call-centers.
