In late September UNI-MEI Director Jim Wilson visited Bogota and Medellin to reestablish contacts and ties with media and arts workers' and such of their organisations as survive in highly troubled Colombia. Besides people in the MEI sector per se he met with groups and individuals among actors, musicians and journalists. Plans were made for meetings next year, in a project supported by the LO/TCO of Sweden, to help revive activities among broadcasting and film production workers. Associations rather than unions are envisioned as most unions in the sector have been destroyed by one means or another, including assasination and violence.
