On November 19, young union leaders from UNI Japanese affiliates gathered in Tokyo to gear up for the UNI World Congress in Nagasaki in 2010.

One of Japanese affiliates’ objectives set for achievement by the time of the 2010 Nagasaki World Congress is to foster more youth familiar with Global Union movements. In accordance with it, UNI-LCJ has been making an effort to expand and keep its youth network.

Sis. Claire Parfitt, Research Assistant of UNI Property Services introduced the recent discussion and developments in terms of the Congress theme and possible topics. Sis. Rosalie Reyes, Chair of the Youth committee, Alliance of Filipino Workers spoke about how the Philippine Youth are active in changing the society as well as a negative image of trade unions by contributing to various community projects and through continuous education for students and young employees.

Japanese Youth members are key players in preparation for the Congress. There are six teams in charge of transportation, food, events, venue allocation, hospitality and public relations etc. Participants had lively discussions on how to motivate young union members to be more involved in union activities and how to maintain the existing UNI-LCJ youth network.



Afterwards, a party was held to share experience each other in a more relaxed mood.
