Securitas, the world's largest security services provider by revenue, announced a pre-tax profit of around USD300 million at the end of 2008 and annual sales of  around USD6.5 billion (equivalent).  In addition to this, the company reported organic sales growth of 4% in the United States and 7% in Europe.  Operating margins improved from 5.3% to 5.7% in the U.S and remained steady in Europe.   Despite the crisis engulfing the global economy  private security companies are continuing to make significant profits.
