Hot on the heels of a strong financial announcement from Securitas last week, ISS has released 2008 financial results, showing good performance, despite the crisis enveloping the global economy.



The company, which is the 9th largest private employer globally and the 4th largest in Europe, has experienced "solid and stable" growth with operating profit growing by 6% and revenue growing by 11% in 2008. Organic growth slowed slightly compared to 2007 falling from 6% to 5.3%. Asia and Latin America lead the way with double digit growth rates of 20% and 17% respectively.



In addition to organic growth, the company added a further 66 new acquisitions and around 35,000 new employees.



2008 also saw the company make the largest contract in its history, with technology company HP, to provide "integrated facility services" in 45 countries.



In May 2008, ISS signed a global agreement with UNI Global Union ensuring respect for fundamental labour and trade union rights and providing practical measures to build trade unions and raise standards in ISS operations. During 2009, ISS and UNI will work closely together on the implementation of that agreement.
