It is a pleasure to know that the Collective Agreement negotiation in Hero Supermarket has been finalised successfully. The CBA of Hero has been signed by John Callaghan, President Director of Hero and Rusdi, Chairman of Hero Union at 30 September 2009 in Jakarta and it was witnessed by Erman Suparno, Minister of Manpower, Republic of Indonesia. Participated at this event was Ms. Myra, Director General of Industrial Relation, Ministry of Manpower Indonesia.

In his speech, the minister expressed his pride to the harmonious industrial relation in Hero Supermarket. This is the model of good social partnership, he mentioned. The government is trying to build this kind of relation to other companies in Indonesia.
The minister is also thankful to Hero because their expansion to some cities in other provinces has created a lot of job opportunities for Indonesian people. Currently Hero has around 12,000 workers and they have set the target to absorb more than 10,000 additional workers in these few years.
John Callaghan, in his message to the union, promised to give more benefit to the workers directly when the company gets more profit in this year. This will be in additional to the facilities mentioned in CBA.
Meanwhile, Rusdi, Chairman of Hero Union, mentioned that last year Hero Union has reduced the shrinkage significantly, and he promised to do it more in this year. The union has played an active role; they have succesfully reduce the shrinkage of 7 from 8 problematic Giant hypermarkets.
As the follow up of this event, the union together with the management will make the road show to disseminate this CBA information to all Hero union members throughout Indonesia.
On the other occasion, the Hero HRD Director, Yudhi Komarudin asking UNI Apro and Hero Union to create some program which also involving the government and employer association.
