UNI Graphical held a very successful executive meeting in Madrid recently.
It was also an opportunity for the Sector to say a big thank you to our outgoing Head of Department Adriana Rosenvaig who is heading up the new UNI Strategic Campaigns and Organising Department.
A presentation was made to Adriana by the President Michel Muller on behalf of the Executive, in addition a number of other executive members made presentations.
In her final evaluation presentation on the work plan for the 2008-2009 period Adriana referred to the signing of global agreements with Nampak and Elanders and the very successful packaging conference held in Berlin earlier in 2009.
Adriana also spoke about her years as being an activist for the trade union movement and while she was sad to leave the Graphical Sector she was looking forward to working with all sectors of UNI in developing campaigns and organizing.
Steve Walsh as the new HOD presented the Work Plan for 2010 and the central themes that UNI will be concentrating on into the future.
Those themes are Global and Regional Companys, Organizing and Capacity development, Jobs with Justice and Political and Regulatory Influence.
The work programme which was adopted in Brighton (2006-2010) was consistent with those themes and was continuing to be implemented.
He said we needed to continue to establish networks in the multinationals and campaign and organize to bring about a more just society for the working men and women in the graphical industry.
He said he was looking forward to working with the affiliates on developing our next phase.
In addition to the Executive meeting there was also a Multi Nationals Committee meeting and network meetings of Kimberley Clark and G & D.
