At its Executive Committee meeting in Stockholm 20-21 October, the ETUC adopted a resolution on financial markets regulation in the EU that supports and brings forward the UNI europa finance approach.



The resolution outlines policies for a sustainable financial system and more specifically principles for a re-regulation of markets as regards supervision structures, credit rating agencies, capital requirements, remuneration structures and several other matters.



The resolution supports the UNI europa finance policies, stressing the importance of the role of the employee in supervision and regulation and the need of having appropriate incentive structures in remuneration of employees in sales and advice functions in financial instituions.



UNI europa and the ETUC are working closely together for a profound reform of financial markets. They have founded a joint expert network to provide alternative responses to the regulatory proposal from the Commission. The network consists of internal and external experts to the two organisations and will play a key role in the formulation of counterproposals to present to the MEP’s and other relevant people.
