Today HSBC workers and tomorrow Santander workers will take action.



Last week in Dublin, Finance unions from around the world launched a campaign for Global Framework Agreements with global banking giants HSBC and Santander. UNI has written to the banks to ask if they will agree to a Global Agreement, but so far neither bank has made a commitment to meet and discuss the proposal.



‘Basically we want effective and constructive dialogue with management of both banks on a global basis, so we can engage with HSBC and Santander on the issues workers are sharing with us’ said Oliver Roethig, Head of UNI Finance Global Union.



‘A Global Agreement will include HSBC’s and Santander’s commitment to recognize unions and allow their workers to join a union without interference or resistance from their management.’ said Roethig.



Workers in Latin America have sought dialogue with both companies to resolve their issues. Unions are now taking action to ensure their voices are heard.
